Northern Territory Police have charged two males with drug possession following a traffic apprehension yesterday.

Detective Acting Superintendent Clint Sims said just before 2:00pm Police received reports of a silver Toyota Camry driving erratically near Pine Creek.

“Members attended and apprehended the vehicle 57km south of Adelaide River.

“Upon a search of the vehicle Police located 36 kilograms of cannabis in the boot. Police will allege the drugs were destined for remote communities.”

Two males aged 21 and 23 were charged with possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis.

They will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court this afternoon.

“Police will also allege the vehicle was involved in a collision with another motorist earlier that morning. Investigations into that matter are ongoing,” said Detective Acting Superintendent Sims.
