Cannabis plants seized - Wagaman

Police have charged a 39-year-old man with drug offences following a large seizure of cannabis plants.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad (DOCS) said at approximately 11:50am on Saturday, DOCS detectives assisted by the Dog Operation Unit conducted a search warrant at a Wagaman residence.

“Police located approximately 207 cannabis plants of various maturities growing in the backyard of the residence.

“A further 15 cannabis plants were found within a wardrobe inside the property. A small quantity of cannabis plant material was also seized”.

The alleged offender was arrested and charged with cultivate cannabis – commercial quantity and possess cannabis.

He was bailed to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 10 February 2015.

“Drug Squad Detectives will continue to target the cultivation of cannabis in the Northern Territory”, said Detective Malogorski.
