Cannabis and vehicle seized - Palumpa

Police

Wadeye Police with the assistance of Senior Sergeant Young from the Dog Operations Unit conducted patrols of the Port Keats Road near Palumpa at 11.00pm last night.

Sergeant Scott Rose of Wadeye Police said a Toyota Hilux with three males inside was pulled over for the purpose of a random breath test.

“Police sighted alcohol in the vehicle and a further search was conducted locating 15 cans of VB.

“Drug Detector Dog Yeti was utilised during the search and gave an indication that there had been cannabis inside the vehicle.

“Police conducted a further search of the road prior to where the vehicle was stopped and located a plastic bag containing a large amount of cannabis.

“Police will allege the bag was thrown from the passenger side of the vehicle prior to being stopped by Police.

“A total of 315 grams of cannabis was located in 260 clip seal bags inside the plastic bag with an estimated street value of $26,000.

“As the area is an Alcohol Protected Area, the vehicle was subsequently seized in pursuant to the Liquor Act.

The three males aged 27, 28 and 29 were charged with:

Bring Liquor into an Alcohol Protected Area
Supply a dangerous drug

They were issued Notices to Appear in Wadeye Magistrates Court.

“Police will continue to target those that supply and traffic illicit substances into our communities and urge anyone who may witness any drug related activity to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
