Cannabis and Liquor Seizure - Darwin

Police

Members from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad and Dog Operations Unit have charged two men aged 28 and 35 following the seizure of cannabis and liquor at Darwin Airport yesterday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said Drug Detection Dog April provided a positive response to a 35-year-old male during a screening of passengers travelling to a remote community.

“The male had approximately 180 grams of cannabis concealed in his clothing. A further search of their luggage revealed two cans of pre mixed spirits and four bottles of spirits.”

The pair were charged with the possession of cannabis of a trafficable quantity, unlawfully supplying cannabis to another and bringing liquor into a restricted area.

They have been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“Police and Drug Detection Dogs will continue to actively target flights, passengers, freight and vehicles travelling to NT remote communities,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Malogorski said.
