Police are calling for witnesses following an alleged aggravated assault in Alice Springs.

Detective Sergeant Jon Beer said it is alleged a 26-year-old female was assaulted by an unknown male while walking along Undoolya Road around 9:00pm last night.

“The female was approached by an unknown male who then assaulted her. The woman fled to a nearby business premises who then contacted Police.

“She was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment for minor facial injuries.

“The alleged offender is described as of being of Indigenous appearance, 175cm tall, of medium build with short wavy hair and a round face. He was last seen wearing black and white denim clothing.

“We urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who has any information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
