Call for public assistance – Suspicious Person – Malak

Police

Northern Territory Police are investigating a report of a suspicious person in Malak.

Sergeant Leonard Turner said just after 6:00pm yesterday a 14-year-old female was approached by an unknown male while walking through a park on Dalwood Crescent, Malak.

“It is alleged the male approached the victim, grabbed her by the arm and spoke to her.

“The girl did exactly the right thing and has told the man to leave her alone before running from the scene, and reporting it to Police.

“The male is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 170cm tall, of thin build and aged in his late 30s, with short dark hair and short beard.

“He was wearing black knee length cargo shorts, a red and orange basketball singlet with the number 6 or 9 and orange sunglasses.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone with any information is asked to contact the Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

“In particular we would like to speak with a male who was approached by the victim for assistance after the incident occurred.

“Police would also like to take this opportunity to encourage all parents across the Territory to sit down with their children and remind them of the four ‘R’s:

  • Recognise the danger
  • Refuse any offer
  • Run away (To a safe place and adult you trust)
  • Report (Report the matter to Police).”
