Assault - Woman Charged - Central Australia

Police have charged a 43-year-old woman following the alleged assault of a 19-year-old female at a remote community in Central Australia.

Remote Sergeant Cameron Bellis said the two women are related to each other and it is alleged offender assaulted the 19-year-old pregnant female at a residence on Friday, 31 July.

“The victim attended the local clinic to receive treatment and the offender was arrested by Police yesterday.

“She was charged with assault and issued a Domestic Violence Order.”

She was will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 26 August.

“Everyone has the right to be safe in their own community and domestic and family violence will not be tolerated,” Remote Sergeant Bellis said.

“Police will continue to make every effort to seek out perpetrators and hold them accountable for their actions.
