Police have charged a 26-year-old woman for the alleged assault of 29-year-old man in Alice Springs

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the pair, who were in a domestic relationship, were involved in an altercation at a residence on 30 January.

“It is alleged the woman stabbed the man before fleeing the scene. The 29-year-old man was transported to Alice Springs Hospital to receive treatment for injuries to his leg.

“Alice Springs Police arrested the 26-year-old woman yesterday and charged her with unlawfully cause harm and armed with a controlled weapon.

“People are urged think carefully before putting themselves in a situation where they assault their loved ones and become perpetrators of violence.

“Alice Springs Police have zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour, and will continue to take all actions necessary to arrest offenders and place them before the court.”

She will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
