Assault and Traffic Offences - Alice Springs

Police

Detectives from Strike Force Romulus have charged a 23-year-old man in relation to an alleged assault and traffic offences in Alice Springs.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the offender allegedly assaulted his 21-year-old partner at a residence in Alice Springs on 2 May.

“Northern Territory Police have zero tolerance for domestic violence and will take all necessary steps to protect victims from being assaulted by their partners. People should think very carefully before they do anything that might see them arrested as domestic violence perpetrator.”

Police arrested the 23-year-old man yesterday and charged him with assault a person who suffers harm.

The male was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“Police also allege the offender crashed into a stationary motorcyclist on Larapinta Drive on 17 January and drove off. The motorcyclist was treated for non-life threatening injuries,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.

He was also issued a Traffic Infringement Notice.
