Detectives from the Southern Investigation Division are investigating an alleged aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs last night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said Police allege a 26-year-old man assaulted his 19-year-old partner with a saucepan at a residence in Larapinta at around 9:15pm.

“The alleged offender was arrested by Police at the scene. The woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

“The 26-year-old man remains in Police custody and is expected to be charged later today.”
