Police have arrested a 48-year-old male following an aggravated assault in Darwin overnight.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Akers from the Serious Crime Squad said Police were called to an incident at Vesteys Beach around midnight.

“A 47-year-old female was found with multiple stab wounds to her back, she was conveyed to Darwin Hospital where she is currently being treated.

“Police located and arrested the alleged offender a short time later, he is currently in custody assisting Police with enquiries.”

Investigations are continuing.
