Northern Territory Police are asking for public assistance to identify a male person who allegedly assaulted a female on Cashman Street in Darwin.

Territory Duty Superintendent Del Jones said Police were contacted at about 1.00am this morning by witnesses who managed to scare the offender into fleeing the scene.

“He is described as aboriginal in appearance with dark curly hair, between 175 – 180 centimetres tall, athletic build with short facial hair and wearing a light coloured t-shirt with dark jeans.

“It is believed he headed off down Woods Street towards Shepherd Street.

“Police have seized at hat from the scene they believe belongs to the alleged offender.  It is described as a dark blue cap with a Pepsi Max logo on the front.

“We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, who recognises the description of the alleged offender or who may have seen a male wearing a hat matching the description to please contact Police on 131 444.”
