Aggravated Assault - Charges - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police have charged a 37-year-old man following the alleged assault of his partner.

Acting Sergeant Caragh Hen said the pair were involved in an altercation on Lovegrove Drive on 9 June.

“Police allege the offender struck the 40-year-old woman before assaulting her with a billy can.

“The victim was taken to Alice Springs Hospital to receive treatment for injuries.

“The offender fled and has since been actively avoiding Police.  He was arrested by Members from Strike Force Romulus yesterday morning.”

He was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Breach of bail
  • Armed with an offensive weapon at night
  • Breach a Domestic Violence Order

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“Domestic and family violence will not be tolerated and Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to this type of offending.
