Youths Charged Following Crime Spree - Darwin

Five youths will be facing a total of 116 charges in court today following a nine day crime spree in the Northern Suburbs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer from Strike Force Trident said the youths, aged between 14 and 15, were allegedly involved in unlawful entries which occurred in Lyons, Nakara, Bayview, Fannie Bay and Coconut Grove.

“The youths allegedly unlawfully entered 13 homes and stole five cars between 29 May and 6 June,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

“One of the stolen cars, a Toyota Hilux, was used to ram the main gates of the Don Dale Juvenile Detention Centre, causing significant damage. 

“Strike Force Trident Detectives arrested the youths on Friday and all five were remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court today.”
