Youths Arrested - Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police from Strike Force Vega have arrested two juveniles, aged 14 and 15, in relation to an unlawful entry on Iripme Court on August 14.

Acting Commander Brent Warren said the youths were arrested yesterday following investigations by Strike Force Vega Detectives and information from the public.

“The youths had allegedly forced their way through a window at the residence and have allegedly stolen computer equipment, cash and alcohol.

“CCTV belonging to the owner of the property has captured the two as they entered the rear of the dwelling.

“Detectives executed a search warrant at the home of one of the youths and items of interest were seized.

“Both youths were charged with unlawful entry, damage to property and stealing.”

The 14-year-old youth was remanded in custody to appear in Court on August 18 and the 15-year-old was remanded in custody until 22 August.

A/Commander Warren said the security put in place by the owner greatly assisted Police in this arrest.

“The help provided by the community cannot be underestimated.

“We ask people to remain security conscious and to report all suspicious behaviour or crimes no matter how insignificant they may seem.

“Information received can often be used to identify offenders in other incidents or place them at the location of crimes.

“Police will continue to adopt a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to criminals who commit property offences.

“By working together we can continue to keep Alice Springs a safe place to live.”
