Youth Arrested – Stealing with Violence - Jingili

A 15-year-old male is to appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court later this month following his arrest in relation to a stealing with violence incident in Jingili on Tuesday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the male is alleged to have attempted to steal soft drinks from a service station on McMillans Road at around 2am.

“A male staff member remotely locked the doors to prevent the offender from leaving.

“The youth allegedly threw a can of soft drink at the employee, smashing a ceiling light. The alleged offender threatened the employee with a knife once he realised he been locked in the store. The doors were unlocked and he fled the scene with a bottle of Sprite.

“Police released an image of the alleged offender, captured on CCTV footage, on the Northern Territory Police Force Facebook page.

“We would like to thank those members of the public who contacted Police, as the youth was identified within a short time.”

He has since been charged with aggravated robbery and damage property and was bailed to appear in court on 23 September.
