Youth Arrested – Alice Springs

Strike Force Vega have arrested and charged two male youths following a number of unlawful entries in Alice Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said it is alleged the two male youths aged 15 and 16 were involved in the unlawful entry and stealing from two bicycle shops early on Thursday 6 March, which resulted in the theft of five bicycles.

“It is alleged they were also involved in the unlawful entry of a primary school and a supermarket early on Tuesday 11 March,” Detective Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

“In total five bicycles, including a $10,000 custom bike, chocolates and a number of packets of cigarettes were stolen.

“Police located one of the stolen bikes at a home in Alice Springs yesterday and have now recovered four of the five bikes. The 16-year-old was located and also found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis.”

Both youths have been charged with:

Unlawful entry (x4)
Damage to property (x4)
Stealing (x4)

The 16-year-old was also charged with possess cannabis.

Both youths are to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court tomorrow, Friday 14 March.
