Woman Charged with Distribution of Child Abuse Material

Police

Detectives from the Online Child Exploitation Investigation Unit have arrested and charged a 29-year-old woman with distributing child abuse material.

Constable Byron May said the woman was arrested as part of an operation that commenced following the apprehension of a 30-year-old man in November 2013 for trading in child abuse material.

“Investigations led us to believe this woman has allegedly been using mobile phones to distribute this abhorrent material.

“Several mobile phones were seized during the execution of a search warrant in Darwin yesterday.”

Constable May said Police will continue to actively pursue those who choose to trade in the stolen innocence of children.

The woman was remanded to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.
