Two Men Charged Following Crime Spree - Darwin

Two men aged 20 and 25 will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today following a $50,000 crime spree across Darwin.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Bland from Strike Force Trident said Police allege the two males boarded a vessel moored in Darwin Harbour on 6 July and stole $2,000 worth of jewellery and credit cards.

“Police allege the offenders used the stolen credit cards to purchase around $2,500 worth of merchandise from Darwin retailers.

“Police executed a search warrant at a residence in Humpty Doo on Wednesday and located and seized the stolen property, a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine and 99 Flatback turtle eggs.

“A further search of the property resulted in the recovery of a caravan that had been stolen from a sale yard in Howard Springs in June.”

Police arrested a 25-year-old man and charged him with:

Trespass (x2)

Stealing (x3)

Criminal damage

Aggravated unlawful entry

Obtain property by deception (x7)

Obtain benefit by deception (x7)

Possess methamphetamine

Possess wildlife without permission

Unlawful use of a vessel.

“Police executed a second search warrant at a property in Herbert and located the stolen credit cards,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said.

“A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a vessel, aggravated unlawful entry, stealing and obtain property by deception.

“As a result of the two search warrants Police have recovered around $43,000 worth of stolen property.”

Both men were remanded in custody to appear in court today.
