Two Charged with Property Offences - Nightcliff

Police

Two males aged 15 and 19 will appear in court today after they allegedly caused around $1,500 worth of damage at a service station in Nightcliff.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the two males attended the service station on Progress Drive at around 11pm on Sunday.

“Police allege the 19-year-old knocked over several display stands and threw food items around the store before attempting to assault an employee standing behind the counter.

“The 19-year-old attempted to flee the service station however was locked inside by security doors. Police allege the 15-year-old started to kick the glass door from the outside and the 19-year-old kicked from the inside.

“The force caused the glass door to smash allowing the 19-year-old to escape and the pair fled the scene.”

Detectives from Strike Force Trident executed a search warrant at a residence in Wagaman yesterday and arrested the two males.

“Police will not tolerate thugs acting in this manner. We will prosecute them to the full extent of the law,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

The 19-year-old was charged with drive unlicensed, damage to property, disorderly behaviour and assault.

He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

The 15-year-old was charged with damage to property and will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today.
