Detectives from Strike Force Vega have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male, following a two week crime series in Alice Springs.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said the youth targeted homes and vehicles in the suburbs of Gillen, Araluen and Braitling.

“It is believed the youth was working with a number of others and broke into homes and stole personal items, cash and a number of motor vehicles,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

Investigations are continuing.

The youth has been charged with:

Unlawful entry (x7)
Stealing (x8)
Unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x6)
Criminal damage
Interfere with a motor vehicle
And a number of traffic matters.

He has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court on 27 February 2014.
