Strike Force Trident return stolen goods

Police

Strike Force Trident Members were happy to be able to return some stolen property to its rightful owners yesterday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said it was always a pleasure to be able to reunite items and their owners.

“In this case we had some antique jewellery that had been stolen from a Wagaman property on June 18.

“Investigations have led to the items being returned.

“Of course this was very well received by the owner as the jewellery held strong sentimental value.”

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Bland said as happy as this ending was people should always be vigilant when it came to the protection of their property.

“Many of these thefts are opportunistic and householders should be mindful at all times to lock doors and access points even when they are at home.

“You should also be aware of where you place items such as wallets and vehicle keys when you come home.

“Often the first surface inside the entrance is also the initial place opportunistic thieves will look.

Acting Senior Sergeant Bland said any theft or unlawful entry should be reported to Police as soon as possible.

“Often there will be several houses in an area that have been entered.

“Every piece of information, no matter how trivial it may seem at the time, can assist Police in identifying a possible offender.”

Anyone with information or who would like to report a crime is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
