Stabbing - Charges - Alice Springs

Southern Investigation Detectives have charged a 28-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing a 36-year-old man in Alice Springs.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said the incident occurred on Bath Street at around 7:50pm on 28 January.

“The victim received a puncture wound to his leg and was taken to Alice Springs Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.”

The 28-year-old woman has been charged with:

Intend cause serious harm

Armed with an offensive weapon

Stealing.

She will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“Police would like to thank members of the public who contacted emergency services. Without their swift response the outcome may have been drastically different,” Detective A/Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

Police urge anyone who may have witnesses an altercation between a male and female near the loading docks on Bath Street on Tuesday to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
