Police have charged a 45-year-old man in relation to a sexual assault in Nhulunbuy on Tuesday morning.

He was charged with attempted murder, sexual intercourse without consent and aggravated assault.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on Monday, 28 July.
