NT Police Officer Summonsed

A 29 year-old male Police Officer has been summonsed this afternoon to face a charge of two counts of aggravated assault.

The Officer is due to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on Monday, 11 August 2014.

An internal discipline process is currently underway.

This information is released in accordance with the NT Police Transparency Guidelines.

Police are continuing to investigate this matter and are calling for witnesses in relation to an arrest made by police on Goodman Terrace in Nakara on Wednesday, 23 July.  Police chased a youth and arrested him outside a residence on Goodman Terrace.  Two other youths were also arrested, one on the Tiwi Oval and one in Witherden Street, Nakara.

Detective Acting Superintendent Lee Morgan said Police would like to talk to any person that witnessed the arrest off these youths. 

“In particular police are calling for the female driver of a vehicle, believed to be a Toyota Camry, who assisted a Police Officer by giving him a lift during the chase of the youth that was arrested on Goodman Terrace.

“Police urge the driver of the vehicle or anyone with information to please contact the Police Assistance Line on 131 444,” Detective Acting Superintendent Morgan said.
