More Arrests for Strike Force Viridian

Strike Force Viridian proves its commitment to apprehending recidivist offenders of domestic violence.

Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Hayes said more arrests have been made and charges laid, with one recidivist offender receiving ten charges in one incident earlier this week.

“Detectives recently charged a 30 year old male after a report of aggravated assault in Moil.

“It is believed the man had called and messaged his ex partner approximately 500 times over a three day period with the majority being abusive in nature.

“The male was arrested and in breach of his domestic violence order.  He was later charged with a string of domestic violence related offences including;

Breach DVO X 5, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Entry, Threats to Kill, Stalking and  Use Carrier Service to Harass

He has been remanded in custody and due to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 14 April 2014.

“In another incident in East Point, a female escaped and attack from her abusive partner and called Police. The offender, a 68 year old male was arrested and has since been charged with aggravated assault and armed with an offensive weapon. ”

“He has been served with a Domestic Violence Order (DVO) and an Alcohol Protection Order (APO) and will also appear in court next month,” Detective Senior Sergeant Hayes said.
