Methamphetamine ‘Ice’ Seizure – Alice Springs

Tactical Investigations Squad Detectives arrested two men yesterday following a methamphetamine seizure in Alice Springs.

Senior Constable Tim Healey said Police executed a search warrant on a residence in Gillen at around 9am and located a less than trafficable quantity of methamphetamine in the form of ‘ice’.

“Police seized the drugs and arrested two men aged 24 and 42 at the location,” Senior Constable Healey said.

The 42-year-old man was charged with:

Possess cannabis
Possess methamphetamine
Possess thing used to administer drug (x2)
Administer drug to self

The 24-year-old was charged with:

Possess methamphetamine
Possess schedule 2 drug (MDMA)
Administer drug to self

Both men received bail and are to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 09 October.

“The drug ‘ice’ is a dangerous substance and is ripping families apart in rural Australia. Removing this substance from the local market is a great result and we continue to urge members of the public to report suspected drug dealing to Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
