Methamphetamine Arrest - Darwin

Police

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man after allegedly finding 55 grams of methamphetamine in his underwear.

Detective Sergeant Matt Akers from the Gangs Taskforce said the man was apprehended after arriving at Darwin Airport yesterday.

“Police will allege he was in possession of 55.6 grams of methamphetamine that had been secreted in his underwear.

“He has been charged with possession and supply of a commercial quantity of a schedule 1 dangerous drug.

“Investigations are continuing in relation to connections with organised crime and the supply of methamphetamine in the Northern Territory.

“Police will continue to target these individuals who seek to profit from destroying people’s lives.

“We estimate that over 500 hits of methamphetamine have been taken off the streets and as far as we are concerned that will go a long way into keeping Territorians safe.”

Detective Sergeant Akers said the man will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.
