MDMA (Ecstasy) Seizure – Darwin City

Police

A 19-year-old man is to appear in court tomorrow following a drug seizure in Darwin City on Saturday.

Superintendent Tony Fuller said the 19-year-old was arrested following an operation targeting drug suppliers in the Mitchell Street precinct on the weekend.

“Detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Division arrested the male who was found to be in possession of a quantity of MDMA pills and cannabis. The apprehension resulted after the man had been observed supplying MDMA from a popular night spot located on Mitchell Street,” Superintendent Fuller said.

He was charged with:

  • Supply schedule 2 dangerous drug (MDMA) (x3)
  • Possess trafficable quantity of schedule 2 drug (x4)
  • Receive property – commission of offence
  • Possess cannabis.

“Police actively target those who wish to prosper from the sale of illicit drugs and this again goes to show - Police are always watching.

“All too often we see people under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs who become violent or suffer severe health effects. However, with operations such as this, Police aim to take suppliers off the streets and in doing so, keep people safe.”
