Police are appealing to witnesses in the alleged hit and run of a 9-year-old boy earlier this afternoon.
Territory Duty Superintendent Delcene Jones said the boy was riding his BMX bike along Deveron Circuit when he was allegedly hit by a Toyota Hilux dual cab ute at around 3.45pm.
“He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance but has since passed away.
“Major Crash Investigations Unit are continuing investigations into the incident and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” Territory Duty Superintendent Jones said.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information about the vehicle involved to call Police on 131 444 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
The Road toll now stands at 36 compared to 32 last year.
