High Profile Police Presence NAB Cup - Alice Springs

Police

Police will again have a strong presence at the NAB Cup AFL match at Traeger Park on Friday night and over the coming weeks as more visitors frequent Alice Springs.

Superintendent Travis Wurst, Alice Springs Division said Alice Springs Police will build on operations over the previous weeks to discourage disorderly behaviour both at the football and throughout the Alice Springs region.

“The crowd behaviour at the recent NRL game was exceptional and Police are confident that the community will demonstrate the same level of maturity and support during the NAB game.

“More people will come into town to enjoy the football and Police send a clear and simple message – enjoy yourselves and the great town of Alice Springs however, be responsible. If you do the wrong thing, expect a visit from Police.

“Our troops will be undertaking high visibility patrols and focus efforts on alcohol related offending and the behaviour of individuals.

“It would be great to have another successful top level event and to see that good behaviour continued long after the final siren,” he said.

“Police are committed to seeing a safer Alice Springs and urge anyone travelling into the region to ensure arrangements for accommodation and transport home have been organised.”
