Festive Season Operation - Casuarina

Police

Police recently conducted a large-scale operation in and around the Casuarina Shopping Centre, in a bid to keep shoppers and locals safe this festive season.

Superintendent Kerry Hoskins from the Darwin Metropolitan Command said the operation, which was conducted by Police from the Casuarina Social Order Unit, ran from Wednesday 3 to Friday 12 December.

“The aim of the high visibility operation was to target criminal activity, anti-social behaviour and liquor related offences occurring in and around the Casuarina Shopping Precinct,” Superintendent Hoskins said.

“Police conducted numerous foot and vehicle patrols throughout the shopping centre and surrounding areas and in total took 89 people into protective custody.

“Police also tipped out 73 litres of alcohol, moved on/cautioned 176 people, issued 10 Infringement Notices and arrested one person.

“Throughout the operation Police also conducted more than 100 reassurance patrols in the area.

“With Christmas and New Year’s just around the corner, Police will continue to roll out targeted operations to reduce anti-social behaviour, damage and theft of property and to promote road safety and keep people safe this festive season.”
