Police are investigating the death of 13-year-old boy, involved in a vehicle rollover west of Alice Springs last night.
Senior Sergeant Michael Potts from the Central Desert Division said it appears a single vehicle, carrying five occupants, rolled near Glen Helen at around 7:30pm.
“It is believed the vehicle was travelling on private property, 7km from the Kintore/Namatjira Drive Link Road when the driver, a 40-year-old male, lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll,” Senior Sergeant Potts said.
“Police from Haasts Bluff and Papunya and nearby health clinic staff attended the location; however the boy was deceased upon arrival.
“The three adult male occupants, aged 24, 40, 44 escaped with minor injuries. A five-year-old boy, who was also a passenger at the time, remains in Alice Springs Hospital in a stable condition.”
Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash will continue and Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
The death will not be included in the Territory road toll as the crash occurred on private property.
