The Territory road toll now stands at eight after the death of a pedestrian in Ludmilla overnight.

Senior Sergeant John Worrall from the Major Crash Investigation Unit said the male was hit by a vehicle on Harney Street around 10:20pm last night.

“It is reported the driver turned onto Harney Street when the victim was struck.

“The driver stopped and rendered assistance until emergency services attended the scene.

“The man was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital; however he passed away early this morning.

“Police from Major Crash are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Anyone with information should contact Police on 131 444,” Senior Sergeant Worrall said.

The NT road toll for the same period last year stood at three.
