Fatal Crocodile Attack Update - Kakadu

The body of a 62-year-old man has today been recovered by Police in the vicinity of where the crocodile attack occurred, in Kakadu National Park.

The man and his family were fishing at the Flying Fox Waterhole on the South Alligator River when the fatal attack took place yesterday afternoon.

Police and Kakadu National Park Rangers conducted spotlight searching through the night, continuing the search with a helicopter and vessels throughout the day.

A 4.63m crocodile was located and shot by Park Rangers shortly after noon and the body recovered.

Commander Bruce Porter of the Northern Command said, “This is a tragic event and our thoughts are with the family during this very difficult time.”

A report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
