The NT road toll has risen to 27 following a single vehicle crash 40km south of Kings Canyon this morning.

Senior Sergeant John Worrall from the Major Crash Investigation Section said the vehicle was travelling along Luritja Road at around 10:30am when it’s believed the female driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

“A male passenger passed away at the scene. The driver and two male passengers have been medevaced to Alice Springs Hospital.

“Major Crash Investigators are at the scene and one lane is open to traffic.

“Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.”

Police will now prepare a file for the Coroner.

The road toll for the same time last year was 23.
