Northern Territory Police are currently on the scene of a fatal, single vehicle rollover on the Lasseter Highway.
Territory Duty Superintendent Garry Smith said reports were made to Police of a serious crash at about 5pm this afternoon.
“We can confirm a female passenger in the 4WD vehicle was killed in the crash.
“The male driver has also received injuries and is being treated at the scene.
“Major Crash Investigators are on their way from Alice Springs.”
Territory Duty Superintendent Smith said travellers should be aware of emergency vehicles in the area, approximately 18 kilometres from the Stuart Highway.
“At this stage circumstances surrounding the crash are unknown but we understand both the occupants of the vehicle are interstate tourists.”
The death takes the Territory road toll to 21 compared to 15 at the same time last year.
