The Territory road toll now stands at 11 after the death of a pedestrian in Casuarina overnight.

Duty Superintendent Kylie Proctor said the woman was attempting to cross Trower Road, near Casuarina Village, when she was struck by a vehicle at around 10:10pm.

“The driver stopped and rendered assistance until emergency services attended the scene.

“The woman was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital, however passed away a short time later.

“Police from Major Crash are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash”.

Part of Trower Road was closed last night but has since been reopened.

The NT road toll for the same period last year stood at five.
