An 18-year-old man has been charged with drug offences following a cannabis seizure at the Maningrida Airport.

Superintendent Craig Barrett from the Arafura Division said Police attended the airport yesterday to conduct luggage searches on passengers travelling into the community.

“Police located 56 grams of cannabis and 600 deal bags on an 18-year-old who had flown in from Darwin,” Superintendent Barrett said.

“If sold in the community, the conservative street value for these drugs would be around $5,600.”

He was charged with supply a dangerous drug and possess a dangerous drug and was bailed to appear in the Maningrida Court on 1 April 2014.
