Drug, Firearm Charges - Darwin

Police

Two associates of the Rebels Motorcycle Club aged 27 and 29 will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court in relation to drug and firearm offences.

Acting Detective Sergeant Tim Gardiner from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said Police apprehended the 29-year-old male driver for a road side breath test in Berrimah on Sunday as he left the Rebels Clubhouse.

“The offender locked himself inside his vehicle and Police were forced to break a window to gain access. Police located a large quantity of methamphetamine and unsecured ammunition inside the vehicle.

“He was arrested and charged with possession of a trafficable amount of methamphetamine, resisting arrest, hindering Police and firearms offences.  His vehicle was also seized.

“In a separate incident Police apprehended a 27-year-old Rebels associate in a vehicle apprehension at Virginia on Sunday.

“Police located a large quantity of methamphetamine and a Taser inside the vehicle.

“Police conducted a further search warrant at the alleged offender’s residence in Coolalinga and located a trafficable amount of methamphetamine and a clandestine laboratory.

“He was arrested and charged with possession, supply and manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of a prohibited weapon.”

Both men were remanded in custody.
