Northern Territory Police from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad have arrested a 46-year-old male following a search warrant in the suburb of Parap.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said the man was apprehended following the discovery of a commercial quantity of cannabis.

“We are investigating this individual in relation to the supply of cannabis and methamphetamine that we will allege he sources from locations around the country.

“Detectives will allege they seized four-and-a-half kilograms of cannabis during the search of the residence

Detective Senior Sergeant Malogorski said other items of interest were also seized during the warrant and follow-up investigations have involved South Australian Police.

“SA Police have executed a search warrant at a storage shed in Adelaide where they will allege they discovered 11 litres of material identified as a precursor for the production of methamphetamine.

“SA Police have also allegedly discovered cryovac bags and digital scales in the storage shed.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Malogorski said the seriousness of the drug trade in Australia ensured an absolute co-operation between jurisdictions.

“Police across Australia do not want drug dealers profiting from their actions in their state or Territory.

“Crossing a state border does not mean you will escape prosecution.”

The man has been charged with possess and supply a commercial quantity of a schedule two drug and has been remanded to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 10 November, 2014.

It is likely the man will also face charges in South Australia.
