Drug Arrest – Cullen Bay

Police

Members from the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk apprehended a male at a ferry terminal in Cullen Bay yesterday for possession of cannabis.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said Police conducted a search on the luggage of a 47-year-old man travelling to Bathurst Island.

“Police located 12 grams of cannabis in two small packages. He was apprehended and issued with a Notice to Appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 29 October.

“Police regularly conduct searches of both arriving and departing passengers at the ferry terminal and urge any would-be offenders to rethink their actions.

“Illicit substances cause a great deal of harm, especially in remote communities, and we will continue to conduct random searches to stop this type of offending from occurring and to keep people safe,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malogorski said.
