Drug, Alcohol Charges - Jabiru

Police

Northern Territory Police from Jabiru have arrested and charged four males after their vehicle was apprehended on the Arnhem Highway.

Sergeant Steve Constable said Police will allege they discovered 690 grams of cannabis and approximately 10 litres of alcohol in the vehicle.

“The four alleged offenders were arrested and taken to the Jabiru Police Station.”

The males, aged 18, 23, 23 and 38 were charged with:

Possess commercial quantity of cannabis

Supply commercial quantity of cannabis

Bring liquor into alcohol protected area

Possess liquor in alcohol protected area

Sergeant Constable said Police will continue to target offenders who wish to profit from the distribution of drugs and alcohol in remote communities.

“Police estimate the group stood to make in excess of $138,000 if they had sold their items in a remote community.

“The communities do not want these drugs in their towns, they do not want these people profiting from these actions and they do not want the trouble and damage drugs and alcohol cause in their communities.

“Police urge anyone with information about drug and alcohol sellers to contact them on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

The males have been bailed to appear in the Jabiru Court on November 25, 2014.
