Police are investigating the death of a male tourist whose body was recovered from Motorcar Falls in a remote Southern part of Kakadu National Park earlier today.

Police received a report at 11am that the 65 year old American National went missing from a tour bus group.

The male was located in the water. CPR was administered however unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.

Police, medical staff and National Park Rangers travelled to the scene when the alarm was raised.

It appears the tourist got into difficulties and drowned, however an investigation will be conducted on behalf of the Coroner.
