Disturbance - Arrests - Willowra

Police have arrested six people following a disturbance in Willowra earlier this week.

Acting Superintendent Michael Potts from the Central Desert Division said extra Police from Alice Springs General Duties and Southern Investigation Division as well as members from Yuendumu, Harts Range, Ti Tree and Arlparra attended the community following a disturbance on Sunday morning.

“A 47-year-old woman was injured as a result of the disturbance and taken to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

“Police investigations have led to the arrest of six women aged 27, 28, 29, 30 36 and 46, with further arrests expected.

“The women have been charged with a range of offences including, assault, armed with an offensive weapon and armed with a controlled weapon.”

Five of the women were remanded in custody and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

The 30-year-old woman was bailed to appear in Court at a later date.

Central Desert personnel will continue their investigations to locate the outstanding offenders.
