A 36-year-old man is to appear in the Katherine Magistrates Court today following the attempted sexual assault of a 41-year-old female in Katherine last week.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jeremy Brunton said Police allege the man attempted to sexually assault the woman near the intersection of O’Shea Terrace and Fourth Street late Tuesday night.

“It is alleged the woman’s partner was also assaulted during the incident.

“The man was arrested on Friday afternoon,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Brunton said.

He is charged with:

Attempt sexual intercourse without consent – Cause serious harm

Make threats to kill

Armed in public

Deprivation of liberty (x2)

Aggravated assault

He was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
