The NT road toll has now risen to nine following the death of a 28-year-old man involved in a crash on Thursday morning.
Commander of Crime, Richard Bryson said the crash occurred at around 1am on the corner of Amy Johnson Avenue and Stuart Highway, Winnellie.
“It appears the male driver lost control of the Honda Accord as he attempted to negotiate a left hand bend.
“The man was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital, however he passed away today,” Commander Bryson said.
Police are calling on witnesses and urge anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Knuckey Lagoon or the Stuart Highway at Berrimah shortly before 1am on Thursday, to call Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The road toll for the same period last year stood at three.
