Police continue to call for witnesses following a fatal hit and run in Tennant Creek.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren from the Southern Investigations Division said it is believed the 38-year-old male victim was on the road when he was struck by a vehicle. 

"The unknown vehicle left the scene and the driver has not made contact with Police," Detective Superintendent Warren said. 

"Police, including Officers from the Alice Springs Major Crash Investigation Unit and Detectives from Tennant Creek are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and urge anyone with information to come forward.

"We would like to speak with anyone who may have been travelling on the Stuart Highway between Renner Springs and Tennant Creek between the hours of 10pm Friday and 8am Saturday.

"Police also wish to speak with anyone who may have information relating to the driver or the vehicle involved in the crash.
