Call for Witnesses - Assault - Undoolya Road, Alice Springs

Police

Alice Springs Police are calling for witnesses following the assault of a woman on Undoolya Road on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Sturt Terrace, just before 11.30pm.

Detective Senior Constable Robert Kent said a 26-year-old female was pushed onto the road and into an approaching vehicle by her 22-year-old partner, and later assaulted.

“During an argument, the offender allegedly pushed the victim into the path of an oncoming vehicle,” said Detective Senior Constable Kent.

“The vehicle slowed to avoid the female but unfortunately she was struck, causing her to fall to the ground.

“The driver of the vehicle stopped and checked on the female. The male continued acting aggressively towards female, attempting to kick her and another witness who came to her assistance.”

It is believed that the driver of the vehicle left the area shortly after checking on the condition of the female.

“We would like to speak to the driver of the vehicle and anyone else in the area that may have witnessed this assault.”

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information about the assault to phone the Police on Assistance Line on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
