Call for witnesses - Aggravated Assault - Malak

Police are calling for witnesses in relation to the alleged assault of a 16-year-old female on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer from Strike Force Trident said at around 5:30pm the victim was waiting for her bus at the Casuarina Interchange when she was approached by three female youths who verbally abused her.  

“The victim then caught the number 12 bus where she was assaulted by one the females, before exiting the bus on Patterson Street, Malak.

“It was alleged she was followed by the same three females from the bus and struck to the back of the head, knocking her to the ground.

“She was then repeatedly kicked and punched before a passer-by pulled over to assist.

“The female youths fled the scene with the victim’s backpack and mobile phone.

“The offenders are described as being of aboriginal appearance, thin build and aged between 13 and 15-years-old.

“One of the offenders had dyed blonde hair and was wearing a light blue and white striped shirt and shorts.

“Police arrested a 15-year-old female and charged her with robbery in company”. 

The youth has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court on 6 January 2015.
